Shawn is a sculptor who makes his home on Bainbridge Island. He has no formal art training; his craft is a process that God has refined over the years. The medium that Shawn works in is mainly paper, along with wood, steel, and various material which comprise the supporting armature. The paper allows for incredible dimension and texture, giving the pieces the appearance of being made of stone.
Much of Shawn's art ranges in size from small free standing works to life-sized wall hangings. Recent work includes life-sized in the round pieces. Shawn has sculpted everything from abstract, to horses, to the human figure. Whatever the subject, he speaks into our lives. Wherever we are in life, he allows God to interrupt us, unravel our hearts and expose those things that have been hidden for so long. When you are in the presence of this work, you walk away changed. It inspires and gives hope. It comforts. At times it challenges who we think we are.
